Important Note

If your organization is an existing customer of FTE Tree, please consult with them for specific sign-in instructions, particularly if your organization uses a single sign-on (SSO) technology. There may be a specific URL you need to use to log into FTE Tree or other requirements before you will be able to join their organization's account.

Introduction

FTE Tree offers numerous ways to authenticate with our software. You may create a login and password specific to FTE Tree, or use one of our available social sign-in methods.

Upon first creating your account, you will be asked to verify your email address before accessing any of the areas within FTE Tree that require you to be logged in. This provides both you and FTE Tree an additional layer of security to validate your identity.

Creating a New User Account

New user accounts may be created by following the Sign-Up link at the top of our FTE Tree home page. You have several options on how you wish to create an account and sign up.

You have several options on how you wish to create an account. Please note that once your account is created, you have the ability to add or disconnect additional login methods as described below.

When using our Microsoft or Google sign-in options, we only use these services to authenticate your login. We do not ask for any permissions beyond your basic profile information required to create your FTE Tree account. You may change your method of logging in at a later date by disconnecting your other accounts and creating a FTE Tree account. Alternatively, you may switch to any of the other sign-on methods under your user profile. These alternate sign-in options use industry-standard protocols and are common across the web in many applications you may already use.

FTE Tree Account

This option allows you to create a login and password specific to FTE Tree. You will be asked for your email address and a password. For security purposes, we check that your password meets a set of minimum requirements. Your password is stored in a hashed and encrypted format and is never visible in clear form to anyone, including FTE Tree.

Note: Although FTE Tree uses strong encryption and other industry best practices to store your password, it is critical that you use a unique strong password when creating your account. If you use a common password across multiple sites and that password becomes compromised outside of our applications, your account with us can still be at risk. If your common password is compromised or leaked on one of those other sites, attackers may try to use the same password on other websites, including ours. Therefore, we strongly recommend using unique strong passwords for every account you have online. Common password management tools are available to assist you with this.

If you created your initial account with FTE Tree, you may later choose to log in with one of the other options described next. If you are using an email account provided by your employer, you may need permission from your IT department to allow FTE Tree to verify your identity against your email account.

Microsoft 365 or Other Microsoft Account

You may choose to sign in with your Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft-hosted account. You'll be asked to share only your email address and name with FTE Tree. We do not request any permissions beyond what is required to use your Microsoft account to verify your credentials and log into FTE Tree. Microsoft creates a secure token that provides us with your name and email address. We use that token to authenticate you with FTE Tree.

Google or G Suite Logon

You may choose to log in using your Google or G Suite account. We will ask your permission for your basic information, such as your email address and name, from your Google account.

Additional Notes

If you are using an email account provided by your employer, you may need permission from your IT department to allow FTE Tree to verify your identity against your email account.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or need any assistance with logging in through a social or hosted email account.
